FAQ's
About Let’s Go! Mcr
- What is Let’s Go! Mcr?
We’re a Community Interest Company (CIC) that organises trips and activities for children aged 8–15. Our aim is simple: to create fun, safe, and enriching experiences where children can make friends, build confidence, and explore new places.
- Who can join in?
Our trips are for young people aged 8–15. We especially welcome children from home-educating families, those from low-income households, and those who are neurodivergent (including children with autism, ADHD, or sensory processing differences).
- What kind of activities do you do?
A bit of everything! From outdoor adventures to cultural visits, community meet-ups to fun days out – we love offering children the chance to try new things and experience the world around them.
- Where are you based?
We’re based in Whitefield, Manchester, but our adventures take us all over the North West (usually within 90 minutes’ drive).
- Where do you pick up and drop off?
We have two regular meeting points for all our trips:
- TGI Fridays, Prestwich – M25 3TG
- Screwfix, Chorlton – M21 0AZ
- How many children go on each trip?
We keep our groups small so everyone feels safe and included – no more than 15 children at a time. There are always at least two adults on trips with 8 or more children.
Booking and Participation
- How do I book a place?
It’s easy! Just head to the Upcoming Trips section of our website, choose the trip you like, and fill out the online booking form. Be quick – places fill up fast. For more information, go to our How To Book page.
- How much does it cost?
We work hard to keep our trips as affordable as possible. We’re also Ofsted registered, which means:
- Families may be able to claim back childcare costs (e.g., through Tax-Free Childcare
or Universal Credit Childcare).
- Subject to funding, we can offer discounted or subsidised places for low-income or struggling families.
You’ll find the cost of each trip on our booking page.
- What should my child bring?
Usually just the basics: weather-appropriate clothing, a packed lunch, snacks, water, and any medication they might need. We’ll let you know if a specific trip needs anything extra.
- Can they bring spending money?
Yes – but it’s up to them to look after it.
- Can they bring their phone?
They can, but we prefer them to keep it tucked away in their bag and only use it if absolutely necessary. Don’t worry – we always have your emergency contact details with us.
- What about toilet breaks?
We plan regular stops and most of our destinations have toilets available. We also carry RADAR keys so we can access accessible toilets if needed.
- My child has additional needs – can you support them?
Absolutely. We welcome children with a wide range of needs, including autism, ADHD, sensory processing differences, and more. When you book, just tell us about your child’s needs so we can make sure they’re fully supported and comfortable.
- Can I come along with my child?
Our trips are designed to help children build independence, so parents don’t usually join us. That said, if your child needs some extra support to get used to the group, we can chat about options that work for everyone.
- Do you offer sibling discounts?
Not right now, but we’re working on it. Feel free to ask us about this – we’ll always do what we can to help families.
- Can I claim back childcare costs?
Yes! Because we’re Ofsted registered, many families can claim back childcare costs — for example, through Tax-Free Childcare or Universal Credit Childcare. Some benefits and local authority schemes may also help cover costs.
- What if I need to cancel?
We get that things come up. If you let us know with enough notice and we can fill your child’s place, we’ll do our best to transfer your booking to another trip. Please note, though, that tickets for venues are often paid for in advance, so refunds aren’t usually possible.
Support and Funding
- Can I donate or support Let’s Go! Mcr?
Yes please! Every penny goes back into making our trips more affordable and accessible for families. You can donate via our website or even sponsor a trip. We also welcome volunteers who want to get involved.
Safety and Supervision
- How do you keep the children safe?
Safety is our number one priority. All our staff are DBS-checked, and we keep group sizes small so children are well supervised. Louise and Stef are both first aid trained and Louise, our lead youth worker, and is present on every trip.
- My child has dietary needs – can you manage that?
Of course. Just tell us when you book. We always encourage parents to pack food that works for their child, but if we’re providing anything, we’ll do our best to accommodate their needs.
- What happens if there’s an emergency?
We have clear procedures in place for emergencies. Louise and Stef are first aid trained, and one of us will contact you straight away if anything happens. We also make sure we have up-to-date emergency contacts for every child.
Volunteering and Employment
- Can I volunteer with you?
We’d love that! Whether it’s helping on trips or supporting behind the scenes, get in touch – we’ll find a way for you to get involved.
- Are there any paid roles available?
Not right now, but as we grow, we hope to offer paid positions. Keep an eye on our social media for updates.
Community and Inclusion
- My child struggles to make friends – can you help?
Definitely. We know how important friendships are and how hard they can be to make. Our trips are relaxed and inclusive, with plenty of opportunities for children to join in at their own pace. We’re always there to give an encouraging nudge if they need it.
- How do I keep up with what’s happening?
Follow us on Facebook or Instagram – we post regular updates there. You can also check the “Events” section of our website for the latest trips and activities.
- Do you accept EHCP-funded placements?
Yes, we do. Some children attend Let’s Go! Mcr through funding from their local authority as part of their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). These places are arranged directly with the council and are a brilliant way for children to build social skills, independence, and confidence in a supportive setting.
Just so you know: we’re not a therapeutic or specialist intervention service – our focus is on inclusive, structured trips with the right level of support to help children thrive.
